Department of English
Chirayata Chakraborty of Department of English (2020) won the Tagore Award for Translated Fiction from Bengali(2021). She received the Second Prize for her translation of Yashodhara Ray Chaudhuri's short story The Man and The Tree .

Department of Computer Science
Three bright students of Semester-6 of Department of Computer Science has won the 3rd Prize in the Science Model Presentation Event (College Division) in Bijnan O Prajukti Mela organized by S.N. Bose National Center for Basic Sciences. They are thoroughly being appreciated for their project on Solar Irrigation System. The Solar Irrigation system helps in preventing water wastage by irrigating the crops exactly as per the water requirements of the crops. The Solar Irrigation System uses sensors to measure the moisture level in the soil. If the moisture level is below the Soil moisture ratio requirement of the crops, it activates water pumps that supply water to the field to exactly meet the requirement. This whole automatic system is Solar powered thus using a greener energy source.

Soumashree Mukherjee
Department of English
Soumashree Mukherjee (UG Sem 4) is an exceptionally
talented girl who has made the college proud through her
academic and co-curricular achievements. She won the
Undergraduate Heldrich-Dvorak Travel Fellowship Award for
her research paper titled "Aftertaste of Apocalypse: Fragmenting
the Dystopia in The Umbrella Academy" presented at the
42nd International Annual Conference of Southwest
Popular/American Cultural Association in February 2021. Her "Three Poems: Letter to Alfred", Blind, and tippy-ti-tie" was
selected for presentation in the Creative Writing session of the
same conference. She also presented a paper titled "The Reality
of Unfelt Feelings: Exploring the Role of Postmemory in
Reception" at 2nd International Interdisciplinary Conference on
Postmemory and the Contemporary World organized by Inmind
Support, Gdansk, Poland in February 2021. Soumashree's book of
poetry The Dusk Between Our Dawns was published by Amazon
in March 2020.
Soumashree is the Deputy Head of Literary Affairs and Literary
Club of Bethune College. Besides she has the experience of
working with Power Publishers and Motion Pictures as a writer,
translator, editor, reviewer, script-writer, song-writer and
singer. Currently she is working with White Falcon Publishers
and SPRINTUPSC. Her performance in cultural programmes in the
college, intra-college and inter-college competitions has been
remarkable. She came third in AALAP western vocals, 2020. She is
also the singer and lyricist of the song 'Run into You',
produced by Krish Hart which is available on all major streaming
platforms.

Kirtika Surolia
Department of Hindi
Kirtika Surolia, presently studying in the Department of Hindi is a brilliant student both culturally and institutionally. She is the recipient of Nalini Das Silver Medal, 2021 for her all round performance in the institution as well as in her social purview. She has received laurels and her expertise in language, both in Hindi and English has been a matter of joy for her teachers and inspiration for her juniors. From 2018 onwards Kirtika has won numerous prizes in different fields like creative writing, recitation, poster painting, quiz contest, digital skills. She has been the content writer, S.E.O Creator and Blogger with high expertise. She has created more than 200+ ads post for various brands, written 500+ articles for companies, agencies and websites and worked with 7+ companies, handled first-hand 30+ client companies. She has been avidly conjoined with many social services, worked with "Chariot" (Dhruv Agarwal's Foundation) to create awareness about Emotional Health and Wellness among socially weaker sections and joined WAO(We Are One) NGO for the same cause to create awareness about mental health and wellness.

Anushka Chatterjee
Department of Zoology
Anushka is a gem of Department of Zoology. She is not only one of the best performing students of the department; she is popular for her writing in many areas. Her short story named "Homecoming" got published in an anthology - Beautiful Minds-An anthology of creative writings (Levant Books,india), published in February 2020. Participated in "Write your heart out" contest by notion press publishing house (May 2020). A short story named "a tale untold" written by her got published in an anthology - pause, volume 2 Notion press publishing house (Date of publication: 15th july. 2020). She is one of the 20 winners of short story writing competition organised by author Devanshi Sharma (July, 2020). She is also one of the winners of online short story writing competition by Mithaas Services (December, 2020). Her short story for the same will be published in an anthology by Mithaas Services soon. She has been selected for the summer institute, 2021, a 2-week creative writing workshop by International Writing Programme, the University of Iowa.
