Saheli Chatterjee (UG English, 2020) is an entrepreneur who has built a successful business with a turnover of 2 crores in revenue when she was just 21 years old. She is the founder of AmbiFem, a digital marketing agency with expertise in social media marketing. She also runs Freelance 101 Academy- where freelancers are taught everything they need to upskill and diversify.

Recipient of 'The Film with Best Concept' at the Kolkata International Micro and Short Film Festival 2021.

Abhishikta Dhar, student of PG Department of English (2015-17) was awarded 'The Film with Best Concept' at the Kolkata International Micro and Short Film Festival 2021. Abhishikta's short film 'Everyday Salad' was directed, shot and edited by her using her uncle's DSLR with almost zero resources during the lockdown period owing to Covid-19 in 2020. She runs a production house called Noirit Films and has previously produced and directed a short film titled 'Stimito' starring Sreela Majumdar and Bidisha Mitra.

Swarnali Dey did her schooling from Springdale School, Kalyani. She completed her graduation with honours in Botany from Bethune College, Kolkata and secured Second Rank the B.Sc final examination conducted by University of Calcutta in 2017. She obtained her postgraduate degree from Department of Botany, University of Calcutta with a first class first rank. She qualified NET LS in June 2019 and finally JRF in JUNE 2020 examination. She has secured an AIR 1 in the Joint CSIR UGC NET JUNE 2020. At present, she is pursuing her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof Rita Kundu, Department of Botany, University of Calcutta as a DST INSPIRE fellow. She aspires to do post doctoral research after this and wants to choose teaching as her career..

Debarati Das

Debarati Das

Recipient of the prestigious Nalini Das medal.

Stood first-class first in the Chemistry Honours examination conducted by the University of Calcutta in 2016 from Bethune College, Kolkata. She has also obtained the highest marks among the students of all the Science and Arts disciplines of this college that year. During her graduation, she was recipient of the prestigious Nalini Das medal awarded for being the best all-rounder of the college.
She has also received Principal's Choice Award and Asima Chattopadhyay Memorial prize for her excellence in studies.
She has completed her post-graduation in Chemical Sciences from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata in 2018. In the same year, she has joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai as Trainee Scientific Officer.
There she has been awarded the prestigious Homi Bhabha prize for showing highest proficiency in the one
year orientation course in the Chemistry discipline in July, 2019. Now she is continuing in the same reputed organisation as Scientific Oficer in the Radiochemistry Division.

Indian Table tennis player

We are proud of Priyadarshini Das, an undergraduate student of Philosophy Honours, who has made a mark in the Sports arena at a very young age. Priyadarshini, aged 20, is a National level Table Tennis Player with World Ranking No. 331. As per Table Tennis Federation of India Rankings, Priyadarshini is placed 6th among Youth Women Table Tennis players in India. Born on 27th November, 1997, in Howrah, West Bengal, Priyadarshini passed out from Bethune School before joining Bethune College. She plays in an attacking style with a shake-hand grip. Pursuing her passion zealously, Priyadarshini has been consistently winning Medals and Prizes in several District, Zonal and Inter-State Championships.

Priyadarshini won the Gold in Youth Girls' Singles Championships in West Zone in Gujarat in 2017. She was the Silver medallist in the East Zone Youth Girls' Singles Championships, Aizwal, in the same year. She was a part of the Runners- up Doubles team in 78th Junior and Youth National and Inter State Table Tennis Championships 2016-17. She has been selected to play professional Indian League Table Tennis and was a member of Champion Team in Ultimate Table Tennis Indian League, Chennai, July 2017.

Her recent achievements include winning All India Inter Institution Championships, New Delhi, Aug 2017, (Team Champion). Her team won the Gold in Youth Girls Category and won the Silver in Youth Girls Doubles in 79th Junior and Youth National and Inter State Table Tennis Championships, 2018, held in Durgapur. In 11th Sports Senior National and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, 2018, held at Ranchi, the Women's Team won Silver and the Women's Doubles Team won the Bronze of which Priyadarshini was a part. Together with her doubles partner they won the Women's Doubles Gold in All India Public Sector Championships, 2018.

Priyadarshini aspires to represent the Country in International circuits. Her favourite sportsperson and Role Model is Ace Table Tennis player and Arjuna awardee Poulami Ghatak. We wish her all success in life.  .

Subhaswapna Mukhopadhaya

Subhaswapna Mukherjee

A prodigious student

Subhaswapna is an undergraduate student in the Hindi department of the college. She was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy since birth with almost total immobility in both her legs. She can only write with her left hand with much effort. She has proved, time and again, that the despite winds blowing in another direction, courage and resilience can adjust the sails to reach their destination. We wish her all success in life.

Shubhaswapna has been a very lively and prodigious student since her school life. As an orator, as an essayist or in recitation and debate, she has won a number of certificates and medals. Some of her most prestigious awards till date include :

  • 1st Prize and Gold Medal awarded for acquiring 1st position in All India Essay Writing Competition organized by Ram Prasad Mission and United Nations Information Centre, India, 2018.

  • Prize in Debate (sub: Society gives best support to PWD) organized by National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities, Govt. of India and PWD, 2017.

  • Best Actress Award for Aashu Abhinay (instant drama enacting), Shri Sikshayatan College, 2017.

  • Bethune College Intra College Competition Drama : Best Script Writing Award, 2017.
    1st Prize in Speech Competition (sub: Contribution of Sister Nivedita in Freedom Struggle) organized by Ramakrishna Mission Advaita Ashrama Publication Centre, 2016.

  • 2nd Prize in Speech Competition organized by Howrah District Ramakrishna Vivekananda Bhavprachar Parishad ( under Belur Math) .
    Tagore Foundation Student's Scholarship, on Bengali Recitation 2015.

  • 1st Prize in Debate held at South End Centre (E.M) School, 2015. .
