
Bethune Day
Bethune day and Banamahotsav was celebrated on 12th August, 2022. The day started with paying homage to the tomb of Sir John Elliot Drinkwater Bethune, by the Principal, Teachers' Council Secretary and representatives of teaching and non - teaching staff of the college.
Further, the Principal, along with the alumni, TCS, teaching and non- teaching staff visited Bethune Collegiate School and paid floral tribute to Sir JED Bethune's statue and Bethune plaque at college campus. The bust of J. E. D Bethune was unveiled by students commemorating the 175th year of his arrival in India. Floral tribute was offered to the statues of Pandit Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar and Sister Nivedita.
An exhibition by the students on 'flora and fauna of the Bethune
College' was inaugurated by Smt. Sampa Das, an eminent handloom
designer.
At the Centenary Hall, the programme started with lighting of lamp,
felicitation of guests and planting saplings and watering them. Three
books were released by the Principal and guests.
Welcome address was delivered by the Principal, Prof. Krishna Roy. A short speech was given by a student representative. Dr. Manju Chakraborty, alumna and former H.O.D of Chemistry Department was felicitated. This was followed by a speech delivered by Smt. Sampa Das and the Bethune Day lecture by Dr. Basabi Chakraborty, Faculty, Rabindra Bharati University. A cultural programme was organised. An alumna donated some flowering plants for the college garden. Saplings were distributed by student members NSS on that day.

College Fest : Aalap
AALAP', The Tide of eternity, Bethune College's Annual
Cultural Festival of students.
Bethune College, with its glorious legacy of academic excellence
extends a platform for unveiling the extracurricular talents of
the students through this annual fest. The Fest provides an
interactive platform for our students to work together in
harmony. 'AALAP' in itself is a carnival that upholds the
celebration of youth, freedom, joy and the cultural diversities
that we are proud to.
Students are encouraged to participate in intra-college
competitions that are held every year. This includes creative
writing (Bengali and English), elocution, debate, quiz,
poster-painting, recitation (Bengali and English), choreography,
Rabindra Sangeet, light classical and drama competition and many
more events.

NSS
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Mahatma Gandhi's Centenary year, i.e. 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges and Universities. The NSS motto, very aptly is "NOT ME BUT YOU". Sports
Bethune College provides its students with games and sports
facilities. The college games room has indoor games like Carom
and Chess.
The outdoor games section has BADMINTON and TENNIQOIT RING in
its test.
The college also provides for regular practicing of various
throw and jump events.
As far as the physical fitness section is concerned, the games
room offers the students with bi- cycle, agro meter, twister,
chest-expander, and ladies cycle.
The college holds its Annual Sports Meet in the month of
December every year. Besides this the college also participates
in various inter- college sports meets and has many prizes to
its credit.

Cultural Activities
The students participate in various cultural activities throughout the year. They actively participate in the drill and march past on the Republic Day and Independence Day every year. Along with this, every year on these two days, the different clubs in the college, like Photography Club, Art & Craft Club, and Literary Club exhibit their work in the college premises.Students also celebrate Teacher's day (5th September) and Rabindra Jayanti (8th/9thMay) every year.
On the Annual Prize Day, the students of the college present a cultural programme after the prize distribution. They present songs, recite poetry, act in plays or participate in dance dramas

Republic Day
The college observes Republic Day every year on 26th January. After the flag hoisting by the Principal, students of the college participate in march past and drill. The event is also accompanied by a cultural programme.

Bhasa Dibas
Bhasa Dibas or International Mother Language Day is celebrated every year on 21st February. The language departments of the college, Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit and English usually organise the programme that includes an invited lecture, short speeches by students as well as teachers and a cultural programme.

Independence Day
Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15th August. Students and teachers of the college participate in Flag Hoisting and cultural programme. The students of the college participate in march past and drill.

Rabindra Jayanti
The birth anniversary of Nobel Laureate poet, novelist, composer, philosopher and painter Rabindranath Tagore is observed every year by the college with enthusiastic participation of both students and teachers.
